Around the Globe: Travel Companion is developed and operated by George Tanase, trading under the Around the Globe brand.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, why it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to users.

Creating an account is optional. If you create one, the app processes:
Your email address
A Supabase user identifier
Your display name and profile information, when provided
Authentication and session information needed to keep you signed in
Authentication is provided through Supabase.
Signed-in users can synchronize information such as:
Saved places and favorites
Trip destinations and itineraries
Day assignments and place ordering
Travel and search preferences
Guest users can use parts of the app without an account. Guest favorites, preferences, recent searches, and onboarding status may be stored locally on the device.
The Closest to me feature requests foreground location only after the user activates that feature and grants Android location permission.
The coordinates are used to search for relevant nearby places within the selected distance. They may be transmitted through the Around the Globe backend to Google Places for that search.
Around the Globe does not request background location and does not intentionally save precise location to the user's profile, favorites, trips, or recent-search history.
Users can deny or revoke location permission through Android settings. Standard destination search remains available without location access.
When submitting beta feedback, users may provide:
Feedback type and message
An optional contact email
A random app-install identifier used for basic rate limiting
The signed-in user identifier, when applicable
If the user chooses to include diagnostics, the report can also contain:
App version
Operating system and platform
Device manufacturer and model
App environment and API mode
Guest or signed-in status
The app screen from which feedback was submitted
Feedback diagnostics do not intentionally include API keys, access tokens, precise location, search history, screenshots, or passwords.
The current beta records limited interaction events locally in application memory for development and troubleshooting.
Build 44.3 does not use a centralized third-party analytics or crash-reporting service.
Information is processed to:
Create and secure user accounts
Synchronize favorites, trips, and preferences
Provide destination and nearby-place recommendations
Display maps, place details, photographs, and opening hours
Open navigation, rating, official website, or ticket-related pages
Receive and investigate beta feedback
Prevent feedback spam and misuse
Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service
Satisfy applicable legal obligations
Where applicable, processing is based on providing the requested service, the user's consent or permission, legitimate interests in operating and securing the beta, and legal obligations.
Supabase provides authentication, database storage, synchronization, and backend Edge Functions.
Account information, cloud favorites, trip plans, preferences, and beta feedback may be processed through Supabase.
Google services provide maps, destination search, place information, photographs, ratings, opening hours, and nearby recommendations.
Search terms, destination information, place identifiers and, when Closest to me is enabled, location coordinates may be processed by Google to provide these functions.
Google's handling of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy:

The app may open:
Google Maps for navigation or rating
Official place websites
External ticket or visitor-information pages
Email applications for support
Once an external service opens, its own privacy policy and terms apply.
Around the Globe does not control ticket availability, pricing, navigation accuracy, or external website data practices.
Around the Globe does not sell personal information.
Build 44.3 does not include advertising, targeted advertising, affiliate tracking, or a third-party advertising SDK.
Account information, synchronized favorites, trips, and preferences are retained while the account remains active or until the user removes the information.
Beta feedback is retained only while reasonably necessary to investigate issues and improve the application. Feedback is reviewed for deletion no later than 12 months after submission.
Information linked to a signed-in account is deleted when that account is permanently deleted, subject to temporary technical backups, security records, or legally required retention.
Local guest information normally remains on the device until it is cleared by the user, removed through the app where available, or the application is uninstalled.
Device backup and restoration behavior may depend on the user's Android and Google account settings and may restore some locally stored application information.
Signed-in users can request permanent account deletion from:

Users who cannot access the app can submit a request through the public Delete Account page or contact: support@aroundtheglobeapp.com
Account deletion removes:
The Supabase authentication account
The account profile
Synchronized favorites and saved places
Synchronized trip plans and itineraries
Saved preferences
Beta feedback linked to the account
Guest data stored only on a device is separate and may remain until the application's local storage is cleared.
Reasonable technical measures are used to protect information, including:
HTTPS for data transmitted over the network
Supabase authentication and access controls
Row Level Security for user-owned database records
Restricted public API keys
Server-side storage of private backend credentials
Confirmation requirements for permanent account deletion
No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Supabase, Google, and their service providers may process information in countries other than the user's country.
Where required, information is handled using applicable contractual, organizational, or legal safeguards.
Depending on applicable law, users may have rights to:
Access personal information
Correct inaccurate information
Request deletion
Restrict or object to processing
Receive a portable copy of certain information
Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
Submit a complaint to their local data-protection authority

Identity verification may be required before fulfilling a request.
Around the Globe is not designed specifically for children.
Users below the age required to provide valid consent in their country should use the app only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
This policy may be updated when the application, service providers, or legal requirements change.
The effective date at the top of the page will be updated when material changes are published.
